[Note: all of this is subject to scrutiny, information was conveyed on a forum and so by no means is definative.] Otto Wagner was born in 1902 in Czecheslovakia and after Nazi occupation escaped to France with other Czech soldiers in exile. He fought in the War for France and was evacuated to Britain after the fall. He had a falling out with the Free Czech politicians and entered the Legion in 1941. He was present at Bir Hakeim as a company commander. It is also believed that he took an injury at the battle of El-Alamein. After war he returned to Czechoslovakian army, but because of another falling out with the soviet advisory officer, he is discharged from army in 1951. After that, he enters the anti-communist resistance and is arrested in 1953 and sentenced to two years prison. After amnesty in 1954 he earns on living as a worker. He dies in 1974. Top photo has him sitting in front of a sun compass that was used with desert travel.
