Not much information has been found on Coumarin Counil. He was from the small French India colony of Mahe. He joined the 13th DBLE in June of 1944, remaining with the legion in other units for 15 years. He was decorated for action in 1945, and later served in Indochina, Algeria, and Lebanon before returning home to Mahe in 1959, after the colony had gained independence and joined the India Union.
